Monoliths of expression
This series of large ceramic vases features serious, mysterious faces that command presence and attention. Each piece is monumental in scale, inviting viewers to engage with the weight, texture, and character of the faces.
While the expressions are solemn, subtle details of color bring life and individuality to each piece, hinting at hidden stories and emotions beneath the surface. The sculptures explore the tension between stillness and vitality, solidity and nuance, reflecting my interest in creating figures that are both commanding and deeply human.
By handbuilding these works in clay, I embrace the material’s resistance and unpredictability, allowing the process to shape the final form. These pieces are not just vessels; they are presences, statements of expression that hold space and invite reflection.
